The bottom line. If you’re an iOS developer using In App Purchase, or IAP, you should remove it immediately and remove any links that take users of your FREE version to the App Store, apparently a simple button is enough to get a letter.

I agree that these lawyer-driven companies are scum, but also… didn’t Jobs tout IAP as a great thing when introduced in a keynote? Why didn’t he make it clear at that point that there’s some third-party vulture that devs need to deal with in order to use his wonderful new service?

Yeah, it’s interesting isn’t it? I’d imagine the creeps hadn’t crawled out of the woodwork when they introduced IAP.
It’s interesting. Apple can let developers deal with this on their own, which will hurt them in the end. If I had this issue it would go away because I’d pull it from my application. I’d go back to having two apps. One free, one paid. The free one would have a description of the differences between the two. That’s it. Go search the store, you could probably get away with a link inside the app as long as it didn’t auto update.
